This role requires a combination of technical knowledge in project management and expertise in textile production. He/she will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time while adhering to safety and sustainability guidelines. This role demands a deep understanding of textile production processes, design, and colour science. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in knitting and dyeing techniques and a passion for producing high-quality products.

Job Description

1. Project Planning and Execution:
• Lead textile projects from inception to completion, including concept, design, sourcing, production, and delivery.
• Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding project status, updates, and potential risks.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies to ensure smooth project execution.
• Set clear objectives and milestones for each project phase, tracking progress to meet deadlines.
2. Knitting, Dyeing, and Finishing Process Oversight:
• Manage knitting and dyeing processes, including colour matching, fabric preparation, and post-dyeing finishing, ensuring that yarns, patterns, and techniques meet quality and design standards.
• Ensure the quality of dyed fabric meets or exceeds customer expectations, troubleshooting any issues related to knitting, dyeing, or finishing quality discrepancies.
• Oversee the management of yarns, dyes, chemicals, and other materials, ensuring timely procurement and proper usage while maintaining accurate records.
• Work closely with other departments to integrate knitting, dyeing, and finishing activities into the overall production process.
3. Material Sourcing & Inventory Management:
• Identify and establish relationships with textile suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors.
• Oversee the sourcing and selection of raw materials (yarns, dyes, etc.) for knitting and dyeing projects.
• Manage inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure the timely availability of materials.
• Negotiate terms and manage the procurement of raw materials and other components required for textile production.
4. Quality Control & Compliance:
• Ensure all knitted and dyed products meet quality standards and client specifications.
• Maintain documentation for all processes and outcomes for traceability.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
5. Continuous Improvement:
• Research and implement new trends, techniques, and technologies in knitting and dyeing.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
6. Team Leadership:
• Manage and mentor the knitting and dyeing team, providing guidance and training to junior staff.
• Foster a creative, collaborative, and efficient working environment.
7. Sustainability and Innovation:
• Stay updated on trends in textile design, production methods, and sustainable practices.
• Explore innovative techniques and technologies to improve textile production quality and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Textile Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience (15+ years) in textile project management and production management.
• Strong understanding of textile processes (knitting, dyeing, and finishing), materials, and technology.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
